WEDNESDAYS
Mid-Week Bible
Study –
This adult bible study meets each Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Crossroads. The study
is facilitated by one of our
pastors and examines the preaching text for the coming Sunday. The format
welcomes questions and shared discussion. All adults are invited to join in
this experience. For questions, ask Rev. McDowell, 653-3330.
Young Spirits
– This group of 20-40 year olds meet for bible discussions and social
gatherings on Thursday evenings from September to May. The bible
study, led by Robert or Sam, focuses on the preaching text for the week and
the group discusses how the passage relates to their lives and the world
around them. Socially, on the third Thursday of the month, they meet for dinner, bowling,
cookouts, bonfires, game nights, and whatever else sounds fun for the
group. If you would like more information regarding the Young Spirits,
contact the church. Senior Adult Council This Council is an advocate for the needs of older adults. They sponsor a reminiscence program, “Life Review,” for persons 80 and older and mail birthday cards to these persons. The Senior Adult Council also creates resources for older adults and makes published material available to the congregation. These resources address the needs of older adults and assist in identifying the many services and programs available within the congregation and community. Wednesday Fellowship Dinners
Dinner is served every Wednesday evening from September through May by volunteers. This is a great time for the church family to fellowship together. Cokesbury Booktable Ministry Books are sold on Sunday mornings in the parlor during Fellowship Hour.
Special order books are available upon request. Church Library
The library is open on Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. During the week, the library is locked, but can be accessed by any member of the staff. Books are loaned for four weeks, CDs for three weeks and videos for one week.
Knitting for a Better World
On
Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. in the Rising House, you can join other knitters in
a new ministry that provides hope to people around the world. You can knit
items for needy children: sweaters, preemie clothing, infant burial
buntings, or chemo caps. You can help adults by knitting 7" x 9"
sections that are later joined together to make blankets for homeless or
battered women’s shelters. The
opportunities to help others are abundant.
If you want to learn to knit,
contact Pam George, 740-653-3330.Outreach Sewing Ministry
By sewing simiple items, this ministry provides help to the Fairfield
Medical Center in several ways:
- Comfort Bears - Young patients can be comforted by hugging
these soft bears when they undergo unpleasant procedures such as shots
or iv's. The pattern is simple. Just cut and stitch your favorite
bear material and then stuff it.
- Blankets - Infants admitted through the ER often need
blankets they can be wrapped in when they return home. Selecting
the fabric, cutting it out and hemming the edges is all that's needed.
If you would like to learn more about these projects or sew one of the
items, contact Pam George at the Church
Cross-Stitch Ministry Persons who enjoy cross-stitching are invited to share their talents by creating Christian symbols as well as gift items given on behalf of our church.
United Methodist Men
The United Methodist Men meet on the first Saturday of every month for breakfast and fellowship. All men are welcome, call the church office for more information,

Sisters - Study Groups for Women
“Sisters”
are faith-based groups
for women. These groups help women grow in faith as they offer support,
encouragement and friendships with other Christian women.
Each group chooses a study book and meets weekly for one hour to share
insights they’ve gained. Groups are limited in size to maintain a small
group atmosphere. New groups are started as the need arises.
These groups
collectively share occasional fellowship times together and provide food and
gifts to needy families during the year.Walk to Emmaus The Walk to Emmaus® is a spiritual renewal program intended to strengthen the local church through the development of Christian disciples and leaders.
