Poinsettias for the Chancel
Once
again the Altar Guild is offering the opportunity for members of the
congregation to provide poinsettias in honor or memory of important persons in
their lives. The cost is $5.25 per 6" pot. Checks may be prepared in the name
of First United Methodist Church and marked Poinsettia.
View and print a form
and submit it, along with your check or cash, to the church by November 23. The
poinsettias will be available for persons to take home or to others following
11:00 p.m. worship on Christmas Eve. If you have questions, please call Martha,
653-3330. More forms for additional poinsettias are available in the parlor or
media center.
Let’s Talk about a Good
Book
Many are reading a book by
William P. Young entitled, The Shack. This creative novel offers some
fresh ways to think about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Rev. Brown would like
to invite all who have read the book to an evening of dialogue on our reactions
to the writing. The event will be held at the church on Monday, November 24, at
7:00 p.m. Copies of the book are available on the Sunday morning book table, or
at most online and retail bookstores. Rev. Brown highly recommends this book to
those seeking to bring new life to their understandings of our relationship with
God. Please sign up through the church office if you plan on attending the
evening session.
Flower
Coupons help youth participate in mission trips
Each year the youth who
are planning on participating on a summer mission trip can raise money through
various fundraisers. The first of these fundraisers is here.
Flower
Coupons sell for $30 apiece and will allow the owner to receive a small flower
arrangement each month from Floral Design, 315 N. Broad Street, Lancaster.
That’s 12 arrangements each year (about $2.50 per arrangement). Other seasonal
specials also come with the coupon, like discounts on flowers and balloons. Buy
a coupon through the church office for yourself or as a gift for someone else.
Angel Tree
Again
this year the Local Missions Team will be giving you the opportunity to shop for
presents for needy families in our community. The tree will be set up in
the parlor the last Sunday of November.
Applications to have a
family included on the angel tree this Christmas may be picked up in the parlor
and returned NO LATER THAN Nov. 23 to the church office.
