Robert McDowell,
Senior Pastor

Robert
McDowell serves as Senior Pastor
of First United Methodist Church
in Lancaster, Ohio which is part
of the Capitol Area South
District of the West Ohio
Conference. Before his
appointment at First United
Methodist Church in Lancaster,
Robert has also served churches
in Xenia, Toledo, Findlay,
Quincy, and Lima. Originally
from southeastern, Pennsylvania,
Robert moved to Ohio in 1985 to
attend United Theological
Seminary in Dayton and during
this time decided to become a
member of the West Ohio
Conference. Robert's life
mission is to joyfully live out
the good news of Jesus Christ
through word and deed so that
his family, his church, and his
community will know and embrace
God’s hope and promises for
their daily living.

Cheryl Foulk,
Visitation Minister

Cheryl is a native
of North Carolina
and graduated from
Duke University in
1973 with a B.A. in
Sociology. She
received her master
of Divinity from
Asbury Theological
Seminary in 1979.
Since that time, she
and her husband,
Ben, have served a
variety of churches
in the West Ohio
Conference. (Both
are ordained Elders
in the Conference.)
Serving in separate
parishes, the Foulks
have been appointed
to churches in
Cincinnati, the Lima
area, Zanesville and
in Baltimore. Her
last pastorate was
for eleven years at
New Zion UMC in
Baltimore. Ben
presently serves as
pastor at Lithopolis
UMC. The Foulks have
two daughters: Azure
(Joe) Koehler, who
is a postpartum
nurse at Mt. Carmel
East Hospital, and
Esther (Blake)
Boulton, who is a
nursing student at
Mt. Carmel School of
Nursing. Cheryl was
a participant in the
Academy of Spiritual
Formation (through
the Upper Room) from
1996-1998. The
Foulks enjoy music,
movies, reading,
travel, and enjoying
life with their
grand daughter,
Evelyn Leigh
Koehler, age 2.

Pam George, Director
of Christian
Education

Pam is a life-long
member of First
Church and has
served on the church
staff since 1989.
Prior to 1989 she
was employed by the
Newark District
office of The United
Methodist Church.
Pam has been a
certified lab leader
in The United
Methodist Church
with certifications
in the areas of
Junior High, Senior
high, Adult, and
Older Adult
Ministries. She has
been asked to lead
lab schools and
workshops throughout
Ohio and in Michigan
and Indiana. She has
served as District
Children's
Coordinator,
District Youth
Coordinator, and has
chaired the West
Ohio Conference
Leadership
Development
Committee.
Pam is married and
has two daughters.
Her favorite
pastimes are
reading, walking,
swimming, and
traveling.

Peg Parker,
Caring Ministries &
Assistant Education
Director

Peg joined the
church staff in 1984
as Director of
Children's
Ministries. She has
a B.S. in Home
Economics from Ohio
State University.
She taught home
economics for 5
years before
retiring to raise
her family. She
taught Sunday School
in several churches
in the communities
where they lived
during her husband's
training. She loves
kids and has really
enjoyed working with
the families at
First Church. In
January 2000 the
position of
Coordinator of
Caring Ministries
was created and Peg
moved to that
position. This
ministry includes
the Attendance
Ministry, Family
Concerns Ministry,
Fellowship Hour
Ministry, the Caring
Visitors. She is
also the staff
resource person for
the First Community
Kitchen.
Peg lives on a small
farm with her
husband, Jim. She
has two adult sons,
Jon and Andrew. She
loves to spend time
with her
grandchildren, cook,
garden, do
needlework and
travel.

John Coen,
Creative Ministries

Crossroads
Facility Director

John is a graduate
of Ohio University
where he studied
video production and
film. His internship
with Stan Winston
enabled him to work
on special effects
for Edward
Scissorhands and
Predator II.
Following a short
stint as a
videographer and
film transfer
technician, John
took on the job of
Youth Director at
First Church. Since
joining the staff in
1992, he has
developed the
Virtuous Reality
puppet ministry and
has become the
Director of Creative
Outreach Ministries,
working with clowns,
puppets, magic,
video production,
visual arts, and
marketing. He has
taught workshops on
puppetry and
clowning at national
and international
conferences. He also
manages Crossroads,
our church ministry
center.

Clarence McCoy,
Director of Worship
Arts

Clarence M.
McCoy has been
serving First United
Methodist Church as
Music Director, then
later as Director of
Worship Arts since
August, 1997.
Clarence currently
provides leadership
and coordination for
all music, worship,
and worship arts
programs and serves
as one of the
members of the
worship planning
team.
Clarence is a
Fairfield County
native who graduated
from Amanda-Clearcreek
High School in 1986.
After studies at the
University of Toledo
and Ohio University
in music education
and trumpet
performance, he
received a Bachelor
of Music Education
degree. Clarence's
experience includes
public school
instrumental music
instruction in the
North Baltimore and
Northern Local
school systems,
performing with the
Toledo Symphony
Orchestra and the
Lancaster Chorale,
music retail sales
and management,
formerly directing
the Celebration
Singers of Lancaster
and the
Lancaster-Fairfield
Youth Choir, and
church music
positions at four
other churches
before coming to
FUMC.

Michael Snyder
currently works as
the Choral Director
at Finland Middle
School in the
Southwest City
Schools. Previously
he has worked as
Assistant Choral
Director at Hilliard
Darby High School
and Choral Director
at Heritage Middle
School, and Director
of Choral Activities
at
Whitehall-Yearling
High School prior to
that. He has held
Director of Music
and Organist
positions at Zion
Lutheran Church in
Wooster, David
Lutheran Church in
Canal Winchester,
and Bexley United
Methodist Church.
Michael studied
Piano Performance at
Kent State
University, received
a Bachelor in Music
– Organ Performance
degree from the
University of Akron,
received his
education
certificate from The
Ohio State
University, and has
completed work
toward a Master of
Music Education
Degree at VanderCook
College of Music. He
lives in Canal
Winchester with his
wife, Angela, and
their daughter,
Bailey.

confirmation as a
youth in 1960 and
joined the church
staff in 1985 as
Membership
Secretary. Later she
became the
Administrative
Secretary and Office
Manager. In May of
2010 Sandy was given
the title of Senior
Administrator. Sandy
was certified as a
Professional United
Methodist Church
Secretary through
the organization
PAUMCS in Atlanta,
GA in December of
1993 by the General
Council on Finance
and Administration
of the United
Methodist Church.
She has attended
many of their Annual
Conferences in
several different
states.
Sandy is married to
Bob and they have
two daughters,
Heather Roberts and
Aimee (Patrick)
Munyon, and two
grandchildren,
Hannah and Hayden
Tatman. Sandy enjoys
gardening, reading,
and traveling.

in May, 2010. She

Secretary/Treasurer,
Trustee, Sunday
School
Superintendent, and
Vacation Bible
School Coordinator.
Deb is happily
married to Fred
(1989) and they have
two beautiful
daughters, Georgi
and Kate. Georgi is
off to college at
the University of
Akron and Kate is
busy in sports, FFA,
and Chamber Singers
at Bloom Carroll
High School. When
Deb has spare time,
she enjoys reading
and gardening.

Loveland, Ohio in

back to the staff as
Financial Secretary.

Administration from
Heidelberg College
and still keeps
herself busy
volunteering with
children & youth
ministries. She is
married to her
loving husband, Tim,

Henry (Hank) is
a 1982 graduate Of
Eastern Kentucky
University where he
majored in Wood
Technology, building
fine furniture. He
married his wife
Diana in August
1987,and moved into
the Lancaster area.
We then joined the
church in 1988. He
worked as a custom
commercial
cabinetmaker in the
Columbus area for 24
years before moving
on. Now he is
employed as a
substitute school
bus driver for the
Canal Winchester
Local School
District, and just
recently became the
Director of
Maintenance for our
church and
facilities. He
received his
Facility Maintenance
training through the
Eastland-Fairfield
Career Center, and
graduated in
November 2010. He
looks forward to
keeping the
facilities up and
running. |
