 General Advance Special Projects
First UMC has made a four-year commitment to providing monetary support to
the following General Advance Specials projects. Additional gifts to these
projects are made through the Easter and Christmas offerings. Groups or
individuals can make gifts to these or ANY General Advance Specials project
at any time. Please contact the Global Missions Team for more information.
UMCOR Projects
From time to time FUMC supports specific projects for UMCOR (United
Methodist Committee on Relief). In 2010 we are seeking Health Kits

Mission Trip to the Bahamas
Twelve members of First United Methodist Church traveled to
the Bahamian Island of Eleuthera in January 2010 to work at the Bahamas
Methodist Habitat. Read about it in the March 2010 Circuit Rider and
see pictures of their adventure here.
Covenant Relationship The church is honored to be in Mission under a Covenant Relationship with United Methodist Missionaries to
Italy— Revs. David and Kristin Markay. In
the past we have supported the Markays as they served in Lithuania and as
Missionaries in Residence in the United States. Africa
Supports hunger and agricultural ministries to help people provide for
themselves. Also supports children’s ministries, which provide relief
to thousands of children orphaned by war, AIDS, and other disasters.
Good Works, Athens, Ohio Provides emergency shelter and transitional housing, as well as vocational and mental health counseling, to rural homeless people in southeastern Ohio. |
