Hello and welcome to the section of the web devoted to the youth and their activities at Lancaster First United Methodist Church. Here you will be able to see what we have done, what we plan to do, and updates on events taking place even as you read.
FUMC has a number of youth ministry programs for the 7th through 12th graders. Here’s how youth can get involved:
Crossfire
Imagine a place and a time when you and other students your age can get
together to hang out, talk about ideas and concerns, enjoy some fun
activities and goofy games, plan some cool outings, get to know some other
youth and adults who really do care about you and learn a little about how
God wants to help you in your struggle as well as celebrate in your joys.
That’s what we’ve got planned this year with a new youth gathering called
Crossfire. It’s from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday nights at
Crossroads (2095 W. Fair Ave.) from September through May. There’ll be songs, skits, games, and
discussions around a particular topic that pertains to you each week.
Confirmation Class
This class is for 7th graders in order to help them make a decision about
their faith choice. It meets every Sunday morning during the school year
from 11:00 to 12:00 a.m. New Member Classes We occasionally offer New Member Classes for youth who have decided they want to wait to join the church and could not participate in the Confirmation Class. Youth Sunday School Classes
8th-12th graders meet in the Rising House
- Room 21 - every Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. during the school year. Thursday Breakfast
During the school year, the youth are fed a great breakfast (hot and cold on alternate weeks),
every Thursday morning in the Rising House, given a short devotion, and driven to school on time - all for $1. Breakfast begins at 6:30 a.m.
Retreats
Every so often we take retreats ranging from one night to a week long.
Look here often to see what new events are coming up.
Youth Summer Mission Trips Every summer the
youth take mission trips to various places. Find out more on the Youth
Mission Trips page along with pictures from 2007.
Chrysalis Chrysalis® is the youth and young adult version of The Walk to Emmaus®. This three-day spiritual renewal time provides an opportunity for youth and young adults to learn more about faith, to experience Christian love and support, and to make new faith commitments. Chrysalis is open to upper high school students and young adults (ages 19-24) of any Christian denomination.
